The indoor unit sucks thermal energy from the air, then circulates the cool air throughout the house through the ducts. The outside unit then vents the thermal energy outside of the home. In a ductless system, there are up to four indoor units attached to a single outdoor unit. One indoor unit is installed in each zone, with its own corresponding thermostat.
